Boho braids in Hollywood: regular cornrows with extensions, styles and care
By Salon Daba | October 24, 2026
Serving West Hollywood, Koreatown, Mid-City, Los Feliz, Silver Lake, and Beverly Hills.
People call us the “best shop in Los Angeles” because the work is clean, the vibe feels like family, and we don’t drag the day out. Cornrows, regular with extensions, are scalp-close, durable braids built with added hair to create length or volume. With good care, they tend to last several weeks, and they’re a smart move when you want a protective style that stays event-ready without daily restyling. I’m based in Hollywood along the La Brea corridor near Hollywood Boulevard, so it’s easy to book in before a show, after a shift, or between commutes.
Why regular cornrows with extensions work for LA heat, long shifts, and late nights
If your schedule is packed, cornrows are one of the easiest ways to look put-together fast. A lot of my Hollywood clients are performers, commuters, and people who live in black tees and sunglasses all week and still need their hair to look intentional.
LA heat and humidity can make your scalp feel tender and can shorten how “fresh” braids look if there’s a lot of sweat and product buildup. In summer, lighter extension hair and smaller, cleaner parts usually help. I’ll also talk you through braid size and tension so your style holds up without feeling too tight on day one.
Quick reality check: Cornrows should feel secure, not painful. If you’re sensitive around your edges or you’ve had tight braids before, tell me up front and I’ll adjust the plan.
Styled cornrows menu: pick your braid count, coverage, and design
I keep this category simple on purpose. Braid count controls the look. Coverage, half-head or full-head, controls how much time you spend in my chair and how dramatic the finished style feels. Extensions add length, volume, and that polished finish that reads camera-ready under Hollywood lights.
2 Cornrows (Full Head)
I braid two clean, bold cornrows across your full head and blend in extensions so the length and finish look intentional, not bulky.
Best for: a classic, sporty look that photographs well and feels lightweight in warm LA weather.
2 Cornrows (Half Head)
I cornrow the top or back section (depending on your goal) and use extensions to add volume and shape where you’ll see it most.
Best for: a quick styled moment when you still want some hair out or you’re blending with another style.
4 Cornrows (Half Head)
Four cornrows give you more shape and cleaner lines. Extensions let me keep the braid size consistent so it looks neat all the way through.
Best for: defined, styled cornrows that don’t feel heavy, especially if you’re active or on your feet a lot.
4 Cornrows (Full Head)
This is a go-to when you want a clean full-head style without going super small. I focus on even tension and crisp parting so it stays polished.
Best for: an easy protective style that still looks “done” for work, rehearsals, or weekends.
6 Cornrows (Full Head)
Six cornrows give you that detailed look that reads great on camera. Extensions help with length and with keeping the ends uniform.
Best for: performers and anyone who wants a sharper style that still feels comfortable day to day.
6 Cornrows (Half Head)
If you like intricate lines but don’t want a full-head cornrow look, six half-head braids give you strong style with flexibility.
Best for: mixing cornrows with curls, a puff, a ponytail, or another protective style.
8 Cornrows (Half Head)
This is for smaller braids and more pattern work. I’ll match your braid size to your density so it looks full, not thin.
Best for: detailed, styled cornrows that still keep your daily routine simple.
10 Cornrows (Full Head)
Ten cornrows gives a striking, detailed finish. I keep the parting crisp and the braid lines consistent so the whole style looks intentional.
Best for: a “done-done” look for events, shoots, or when you want your style to be the outfit.
10 Cornrows (Half Head)
You get the detailed look of smaller cornrows while still leaving room to style the rest of your hair the way you like.
Best for: people who love braid detail but don’t want full coverage.
Cornrows with Design
If you have a specific pattern in mind, I’ll work off your reference and map it to your head shape and density so the design lands the right way.
Best for: standout looks for stage, festivals, or anyone who wants something unique.
Results I hear about a lot: scalp comfort, lasting neatness, and compliments
The results people talk about most aren’t abstract. They’re specific. I hear about scalp relief when we pair a protective style with the right oils. I hear about styles lasting longer than expected. And I hear about the confidence boost that comes from walking out with hair that looks “top tier” without needing an hour at home.
One pattern that stands out is how many people come in mid-change. Going from relaxed hair back to natural. Starting a new loc or braid routine. Or finally deciding they’re done fighting their hair alone. That’s why I’m big on explaining what I’m doing as I go, especially if you don’t have the words for what you want yet.
“Once she designs your hair you WILL receive so many compliments!!!”

A note on longevity
Neatness depends on braid size, your hair texture, sweat, and how you sleep. When someone says their style “lasted so long, ” it usually comes down to clean sectioning, consistent tension, and simple at-home care that keeps your scalp happy.
How your cornrow appointment flows in our Hollywood studio
When you sit down, I start by looking at your scalp and your density, then we agree on braid count, parting, and how much extension hair you want showing. If you have a reference photo, I’ll point out what’s realistic for your hair and what needs a small tweak so it lasts.
Next comes the parting. This is where neat cornrows are made. I keep the sections clean, then I braid close to the scalp and feed in extensions in a way that doesn’t feel bulky at the base. I check in on tension as I go, because comfort matters just as much as the final look.
Before you leave, I’ll show you how to protect the style at night and what to do if your scalp gets dry. If you’re heading to a venue nearby, I’ll also make sure your edges and finish look sharp under bright lights.
Why people stick with Salon Daba for 8 years in Los Angeles
I’ve been doing this work in Los Angeles for 8 years, and the reason people stay isn’t complicated. They tell me we’re fast, friendly, communicative, and consistent. Questions get answered quickly. The shop stays clean and spacious. And the atmosphere feels like you can actually exhale.
A lot of new clients come in after seeing someone else’s hair out in the world and asking who did it. That’s the kind of reputation I’m proud of. And if you’re commuting through Hollywood, especially around Hollywood Boulevard and the La Brea commercial strip, it’s easy to plan a visit that doesn’t take over your whole day.
“Questions are answered quickly via text, and their work is top tier.”

Simple aftercare for styled cornrows that stay neat for weeks
Cornrows last best when you keep friction and buildup low. At night, protect the style with a satin or silk scarf or bonnet, and try not to sleep with your braids pressed into rough fabric. In LA summer heat, sweat happens, so the goal is to keep your scalp clean without roughing up the braid pattern.
If you wash, focus on your scalp first. Use gentle pressure with the pads of your fingers, then rinse well. Pat your braids dry and let them fully air-dry. A damp scalp under extensions can get itchy fast.
Signs it’s time for a refresh
- Your parts look fuzzy and you can’t see the lines anymore.
- Your scalp feels itchy even after a light cleanse.
- The braids start lifting at the base, especially around the hairline.
