Get answers to common questions about Interlock (3 Hours).
The three-hour interlock appointment includes a consultation, targeted interlocking of roots and loose areas, light cleansing if needed, and styling. Technicians prioritize maintenance rather than full rebuilds; very thick or extensively loose heads may require extra time or follow-up.
Arrive with clean, dry hair unless otherwise instructed. Avoid heavy oils or conditioners that can interfere with the interlock. Bring reference photos and any preferred products, and inform your stylist of past treatments or tension concerns for a smooth service.
Three hours is ideal for routine maintenance and medium-density heads. Very thick, long, or extensively loose locs may need additional time. We evaluate each case during consultation and will recommend booking more time when necessary for quality results.
Most clients book interlock maintenance every 4–8 weeks depending on hair growth, loc size, and activity level. Regular scheduling helps prevent excessive loose roots and reduces the need for longer corrective sessions.
When performed correctly, interlocking is low-risk and preserves loc health. Excessive tension or overly frequent tight work can stress edges, so our stylists use gentle technique and tailor tension to your hair to minimize potential damage.
Use a sulfate-free clarifying shampoo, light leave-in treatments, and small amounts of natural oil on the scalp. Sleep on satin, avoid tight styles for several days, and follow your stylist’s personalized care plan to extend results and protect locs.
